Old Sea Dog

I wrote this poem last year in response this story I found out about! Click here to read about it. If you like puns then this is a poem for you!

Old Sea Dog

A castaway, trying for a better life
all aboard, feeling winters bite.
Huge waves roll over the bow. Wow,
how the wind howls, bouncing me up
and down as I cry for shelter. Rough
seas beg me to turn tail for safety
and I whine
forcing makeshift reef and bowlines
because torn sails from wind and rain
leave me playing dead in waves.
I'm only hoping I can set a course for foreign shores,
disembark
and feel the sand beneath my paws.
